I wish climate change was a hoax. I really do. But with the vast majority of scientific consensus, the reality is clear: the earth is warming, human activity is a major contributor to is, and we need to do something about it. It’s uncomfortable. It’s scary. But ignoring it is not the solution. With that […]

Recently a report by Thomson Reuters Foundation cited the evidences of the thriving sex trade in Bangladesh that currently hosts large number of Rohingya Muslim refugees that escaped from Myanmar following the barbaric military crackdown in August 2017. Almost eight months passed but the Rohingya conflict has escalated into more chaos, whereas Myanmar’s de facto Leader Aung San […]
“Antisemitism”— was a word familiarized by Adolf Hitler during the World War II. To be put in simple words an antisemite is a person who has an irrational fear of Jews. A keen study of the World War II makes us better understand the words — genocide, exodus, evacuation, gas-chambers and other related holocaust jargon. I once laid my hands on Hitler’s autobiography “Mein Kempf” but could not get to complete it due to the amount of negativity and hatred filled in the pages. An analysis of Hitler’s religious views reveal the fact that he was born to Catholic parents and later on in life he moulded his religious views and beliefs as per his political needs and ambitions. This malleable stance of Hitler towards religion may indeed be a reason for his sadistic behavior.

It’s finally happened? Actually no! Muslims have been suffering from Islamophobia, fuelled by the media and intolerant sections of society, for almost two decades now. The sickening and revengeful attack by Darren Osborne upon innocent, peace-abiding worshippers at Finsbury Park Mosque, is just a high profile reminder of what Muslims in the UK have had to deal with for many years.
This is just an open example of what many Muslims, and other people from a minority background, have known existed in UK society – a deep and indiscriminate hatred for Muslims; a villifying sentiment that has run through society and been allowed, by the Government, to grow and grow. The media has fuelled this and, with their constant negative portrayal of Muslims, the media should shoulder some of the responsibility of what…

Earlier in January, a United Nations report cited damning evidence on the Burmese Army’s ethnic cleansing campaign against the country’s Rohingya Muslim minority. This is not the first time that such news have emerged out of Burma whose powerful military has been successful in hiding its decades old gross human rights abuses in Muslim populated regions including the Rakhine.
UNHCR’s representative Mr John McKissick said, “Burmese troops have been killing men, shooting them, slaughtering children, raping women, burning and looting houses, forcing these people to cross the river” into neighboring Bangladesh. On the other hand, Bangladeshi government is actively discouraging Rohingya Muslims from entering the country since if they all leave this would imply that Burma would become successful in achieving its ultimate goal of the ethnic cleansing of Rohingya Muslims. Those who are stuck behind and still remain behind are suffering the inhumane atrocities done by Burmese military and…
